Former Northern Ballet Artistic Director David Nixon CBE returns with the UK premiere of Winter Dances. Having created many of Northern Ballet’s signature works, Nixon now brings a short ballet where music and movement merge in a showcase of elegance and artistry.

Choreographed to Antonín Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12, nicknamed ‘American’, Winter Dances tells the brief story of a group of young people on an evening of leisure, with the melody of the music guiding their interactions. Two contrasting couples break from the group into duets; one is deeply passionate while the other is light-hearted and playful in a subtle reflection on the evolving nature of love.
