Creative Foundations Fund Investment

Northern Ballet has received investment through the Creative Foundations Fund (part of the Arts Everywhere Fund) to safeguard and develop our production workshop space in Bramley, Leeds. The fund is administered and delivered by Arts Council England on behalf of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

We would like to express our thanks to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England for supporting this redevelopment. The investment will allow the replacement of a failing roof at a facility that is critical in supporting Northern Ballet’s touring work. In addition to the vital roofing work, it will also allow for the fitting of solar panels and insulation to reduce our carbon footprint, with refurbishment of working spaces enabling an extension of our partnership with colleges, creating training opportunities and introducing more young people to careers in technical theatre.

Northern Ballet Executive Director David Collins said:

“Our Bramley workshop space is integral to the company’s work. So many of the magical moments which have been enjoyed by audiences around the world are created from scratch by our talented and dedicated workshop team. We are thrilled that we can now start developing a world-class space to match the world-class work created by our teams”

Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy said:

“I want everyone, everywhere to feel a sense of pride about where they come from. Cultural organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber are important custodians of local identity and play a key role in the story we tell ourselves as a nation. Our Arts Everywhere Fund is delivering on our commitment to support cultural assets across the country, increasing access and preserving them for future generations. This is demonstrated by grants announced today that will benefit sixteen culture venues, museums, and library services across Yorkshire and the Humber. Arts and culture are the beating hearts of our communities, they have the power to unite us in the face of division and break down barriers to opportunity. We want to harness the power to help us build a brighter future for the people of Yorkshire and the Humber.”

Rebecca Ball, Area Director, North, Arts Council England said:

“Our museums, libraries and arts organisations have the power to change lives, they give us access to new worlds, teach us about our heritage and give us new perspectives on life. I’m so pleased that we’ll be supporting so many of our cultural organisations in the North with this capital investment, which will ensure that they can continue to deliver incredible arts and culture to their communities.”

In total 16 cultural venues, museums, and libraries will receive a funding boost that will improve access to arts and culture across Yorkshire and the Humber, 130 organisations across the country will receive a share of funding from the government’s Arts Everywhere Fund.
