Our Dancers

Isabelle is from Cheltenham and trained at Janet Marshall Dance Studios and English National Ballet School. She joined Northern Ballet in 2014 until 2017 and returned for Swan Lake in 2021 and The Nutcracker in 2022. She has also danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Raymond Gubbay’s UK and International tour of The Johann Strauss Gala and Johan Kobborg’s Romeo and Juliet at The Royal Albert Hall.

Where were you born and raised?

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

At what age did you start dancing?

Age 4.

Where did you train?

Janet Marshall Dance Studios and English National Ballet School.

Awards/nominations/prizes 

Stella Mann Prize 2009, Elizabeth Baines-Hewitt Award 2013.

Which Northern Ballet role would you most like to dance?

Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite stories so I would love to dance a role in that.

Career highlights

Performing with Northern Ballet and English National Ballet, especially at the 2012 Olympics and dancing at The Royal Albert Hall in Johan Kobborg’s Romeo and Juliet. 

What do you like most about being a dancer?

It’s rewarding; you work hard and with some patience and a lot of perseverance you improve.

If you could adapt one work into a ballet what would it be?

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.

What is your favourite book?

The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

What is your favourite post-show meal?

Something quick, like pasta.

How do you like to relax?

With a cup of tea, some friends or a good book.

If you weren’t a dancer what would you be?

I love drawing so I would spend more time doing that. I would also like to use my Masters degree and try lecturing at a university.
