Course Content
Our Intermediate Summer Intensive is an exciting one-week experience for dancers ready to push themselves.
Train in our state-of-the-art building with Northern Ballet’s expert teaching staff and discover the Academy’s unique training methods. Students will get and insight into professional ballet, with opportunities to observe company dancers in class and rehearsal and feel inspired by life in a world-class ballet environment.
Daily warm up and ballet class alongside enhancement sessions including (age dependent):
- Contemporary
- Drama
- Pilates
- Repertoire
- Pointe prep
- Q&A with Dame Darcey Bussell DBE
The week will end with an informal demonstration for families.
Teaching Faculty
Northern Ballet dancers will be guest teaching throughout the week. Other teaching faculty and guests announced soon.
There will also be a Q&A with Darcey Bussell DBE.
Application Process
- Applicants must complete the online application form, including uploading required photographs.
- On occasion applicants may be asked to submit a short video as part of their application.
- Places will be offered on a rolling basis through to our closing date.

Photo Requirements
- Where requested on the application forms, photos should be uploaded.
- Please do not worry if you are unable to photograph in a dance studio, if it isn't possible; a small space at home is also suitable. Photos can be taken on a camera or smartphone.
- Facing the camera – Demi plié in first position, arms in bras bas
- Facing the camera – Tendu á la seconde, arms in second position (either leg)
- Profile to the camera – 1st Arabesque on a straight supporting leg
Accommodation
Our summer intensive is non-residential. For successful applicants we provide a list of suggested hotels and accommodation options in Leeds. We also have a Student Accommodation offer in place at Campus Village Living Burley Road.
The accommodation comprises of 4-6 ensuite bedroom flats with a shared kitchen. It is a 15-20 minute walk to Northern Ballet through the city centre. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during their stay. Price: £48 per person per night.
