A treat from a recent rehearsal room event at our home for David Nixon OBE's A Midsummer Night's Dream... The Company are boarding the sleeper train to Edinburgh and none of the romances between the dancers are going quite as well as they'd hope...
A Midsummer Night's Dream
During rehearsals dancers may improvise dialogue for their character to better understand their intentions. The audience isn't expected to get everything the dancer has improvised but as the ballet progresses the intentions build allowing a much better understanding.
David Nixon first created this version of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Northern Ballet in 2003, a witty and imaginative production in which the original story is adapted and set in a ballet company in the 1940s. This resource pack is designed to give you more information about the production and an insight into how it was created.
